Being passionate about the environment, wildlife and pets, I love to capture the beauty of animals in my art work.
Originally from Northumberland, I've now lived in the little village of Ford in Argyll, Scotland for the last 21 years, and what a beautiful place to be!
I'm a Wildlife Ranger running a charity promoting environmental education and celebrating the amazing diverse range of species we have in Knapdale, in the Heart of Argyll.
When I'm not out working with a school group, taking a guided walk, or showing people around our visitor centre (or trudging through all the admin tasks at the computer) as a Ranger, I love spending time with my horses and dogs. I'm so lucky to have a job that is my dream come true, and is hard to define as 'work' most days. I have also found a way to express my adoration for all animals, whether wild or our beloved pets, by creating them in coloured pencil drawings, which is what I do most evenings.
If you'd like to know more about what our wildlife charity does, please visit our charity website www.argyllbeavercentre.co.uk
I draw using artist grade, lightfast wax and oil based coloured pencils on a mixture of surfaces, usually Clarefontane Pastelmat board, and Grafix matt drafting film.
I love to do commission drawings of people's pets or favourite animals, from horses, dogs, cats, guinea pigs, birds, or any other animal. Capturing their character on paper, and giving their owner a lasting memory of their beloved pet is something I really enjoy, and by spending on average 20 hours on each drawing, I can't help but fall a little in love with their pet too.
In between pet portraits, I love to draw the wildlife that I get to see everyday in my Wildlife Ranger job. I have prints and cards made of many of my images, which I sell in our visitor centre shop and the proceeds of sales go straight to the wildlife charity.
Please feel free to browse some of my drawings on the gallery page, and get in touch for a chat about any of my work.
